If you have a knack for entertaining at your house, listen up! Nailing indoor/outdoor flow means you can instantly expand your space meaning more room to party! Here are some critical tips to winning indoor/outdoor flow:
Plan an open floor plan. Isn’t it hilarious we have reached the age where we must consider such things? Well consider it! Knock down those walls and invest in large openings between the indoors and outdoors using sliding, large pocket or accordion doors. Also, ensure critical spaces like the family room, kitchen and your outdoor area adhere to a well designed, open plan.
Keep the outdoors partially covered. Offering an area that is covered will attract guests like flies to a light, dramatic I know. Create a covered entertaining area such as an outdoor living room or screened-in porch. However, make sure you have plenty of outdoor uncovered spaces as well.
Take in that view. Take advantage of that natural focal point in your house: your backyard view. Keep floors perfectly level, have plenty of windows and glass doors between your indoors and outdoors. We are looking for total unobstructed, vista views. Orient your furniture and design your backyard layout accordingly.
