Perhaps you are a fan of Hollywood Glam or Hollywood Regency style. An interesting style to achieve, Hollywood glam pulls from many other decor approaches: neoclassical, art deco, transitional and modern. Today, we shall journey the elements of this style and how you can get the look.
Hollywood Glam is reminiscent of the Golden Age of Film starring Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Rita Hayworth, Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor and other dazzlers, and brings all the glitz and glam to your space. Hollywood style is not shy but confident, and packed full of personality, belting it out like a classic Broadway tune. I myself do appreciate the romantic touches it beholds.
Let us explore:
Tip#1: Mirror, Mirror on the Wall: Antiquated looking mirrors, tarnished mirrors or mirrors set in patterns, whatever the mirror, it needs to be present in the glam of Hollywood Regency style (and not necessarily on the wall). Let mirrors sparkle in frames, panels, tiles, furniture and accents. Mercury glass and mirrored tops of tables are also welcome. After all, this is the style of the stars meaning reflections are encouraged for a quick touch up (I didn’t like writing that but it is true of the trend).

Tip#2: Luxe Materials and Fabrics: Hollywood style is reflected in glossy, polished finishes, reflective surfaces, crystals, mosaic tiles, lucite, glass, acrylic, lacquer, silk, leather, chenille, suede and velvet to create elegant spaces that are allowed to be over the top. This is the Lisa Vanderpump of style and yes, I watch The Housewives of Beverly Hills for drama and mansions. I am not ashamed.

Tip#3: Gold with Black or White: There is something about gold and black or gold and white that is sizzling and chic. Not too mention, black and white is often the foundation of Hollywood glam, a nod to all the classic films it sensationalizes. Just by adding gold, you are full on luxe.

Tip#4: Accents with Larger than Life Character: Over the top, flamboyant and fun is allowed and encouraged in this arena. Let your personality shine through with glittering and detailed accents. Carved mirrors and frames, glass, large vases, tasseled pillows and curtains, fancy crystal lamps, and naturally, chandeliers. Hang chandeliers in every room if you want (I will be that person). Do not forget, patterns are welcome. Make sure to bring focus to your favorite pieces, but don’t allow for clutter.

Tip#5: Color Punches: Hollywood Glam usually calls for black and white meaning a punch of high-energy color can do a space good. A regal purple is a popular choice for this regency style, but other high intensity colors like magenta, yellow, royal blue and kelly green are all fair game.

Tip#6: Metallics: You may already know how I feel about the shimmering goodness that are metallics. Metallic pieces and furnishings add to the luxe look that is Hollywood Glam, particularly when paired with rich fabrics and punchy patterns. Make sure lighting is soft and faceted to throw these glimmering pieces into full glory.

Tip#7: Lounging Furnishings: Calling all fainting couches and chaise lounges. Hollywood Glam style revolves around entertaining (preferably with cocktails) so furnishings should be low and plush to inspire conversation and personality to prevail. Warning: do not confuse over the top decor with over the top furniture. Furnishings should be light and pleasant background noise.

Tip#8: Print Impact: Pattern and print fun is heavily encouraged. Through a cornucopia of fabrics and chic materials, prints and patterns pull high impact. Animal prints, chevron, geometric prints, Asian-inspired patterns, Greek key and stripes are all accepted. Avoid floral prints or blurry patterns like ikat. Feel free to mix and match patterns. Remember, patterns do not have to stay on pillows, be bold and paint a ceiling or hang a print in a gilded frame.
